(Nelsonville, OH) On Saturday, the Nassau Lions traveled to Ohio to go up against Hocking Community College after a down week due to a cancelled Navy Prep game.
Getting right down to business in the first half, the Lions had 2 rushing touchdowns clocked by running back
Jeremiah Nelson. It wasn't until the second half that wide receiver
Rashad Tucker threw a 29 yard touchdown pass to tight end Matt Deblaiso to start pulling away from the Hawks. The Lions dominated and pulled out the victory 40-12, thus making them 6-3 for the season.
Nassau was effective on both sides of the ball with great performances by the offense and defense. Outstanding players of the game were
Jeremiah Nelson who tallied 20 carries for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns, and
Rashad Tucker, who had 201 passing yards and a touchdown. Additionally, he had 87 rushing yards with a touchdown.
We caught up with Quarterbacks Coach
Marc Poppe after the game who commented that, "This was a great overall effort and team win. We are really excited to go into the Erie game with another win under our belt. The men are ready."
Nassau's next and last game of the 2018 season will be in Buffalo, NY as they take on Erie Community College.
