(Bronx, NY) The first game of a double header
on Saturday at Monroe in the Bronx was the 3rd game in a series of 4 for the two teams. Nassau was leading the series 2-0.
NCC kicked off the top of the 1st. An error from the Mustangs allowed the Lions to get on the board. Multiple walks had the bases loaded and another walk helped Nassau score again, making the score 2-0.
It wasn't until the 3rd inning that both the Mustangs and the Lions each scored a single run. The tally was now 3-1. In the top of the 6th inning, Nassau put the icing on the cake, and pulled away scoring a total of 5 runs. Mike Iacobellis, Vinny Napolitano,
Ali Ghriaz,
Luke Lospitalier, and Thorin Sanchez all drove in runs and captured the 11-3 win for NCC.
Pitcher
Joe Minucci was on the mound for Nassau. He had an excellent game. Minucci only surrendered one run on one hit in just over 4 innings. He also struck out a record number of 11 batters. Overall, the Lions had 8 hits throughout the game. Iacobellis, Lospitalier, and Ghriaz each had 2 hits to lead the scoring board. The Lions didn't have a single error in the field.
A short intermission was held before the second game of the double header began.
