Williams Throws Shutout in 4th Game of Monroe Series

(Bronx, NY) Nassau geared up for the final game of the series against Monroe Community College. The Lions had won handily up to this point and were looking to add one more win to their tally. 

The game was scoreless until the top of the 2nd where NCC took the reigns. Monroe's pitcher walked the first few batters and then couldn't keep the Lions under control. They blew the top off the inning scoring a total of 6 runs.

Monroe struggled to handle Andrew Williams who was on the mound for NCC and continued to remain scoreless through the bottom of the 4th inning. The Lions dove into the top of the 5th and scored a total of 6 runs. Big at bats for the Lions were led by Brian Perez, TJ Toscano, and Vinny Napolitano. The final score in 6 innings was 12-0, Lions.

Williams threw an excellent game, allowing only 2 hits over 6 innings. He also struck out 7 batters and tallied 0 walks. Overall, the team didn't commit a single error in the field. Perez and Michael Iacobellis lead the team in hits having 2 each. Luke Lospitalier lead the Lions with chances in the field by tallying 7 in total.

Head Coach Larry Minor commented after the game that, "The men saw the ball well today. The series was a great confidence booster for them, and I feel that we are in an excellent spot prior to post-season play that starts in just a few weeks."
