Nassau Basketball Claims Victory Against Passaic

(Paterson, NJ) On Tuesday night the Nassau Lions Women's Basketball team hit the road traveling to compete against Passaic Community College. Passaic was ranked 11-2 going into the match up.

The Lions got out to a bit of a slow start trailing Passaic by 8 in the first quarter. They finally found their groove and held the Panthers to single digits in the second quarter. Still neck and neck, the score was 32-31 Nassau going into halftime.

Lindsay McBean went on an 8-0 run to spark the team's 16-2 run at the start of the second half. McBean hit back to back three pointers and a lay-up. NCC scored 27 and 29 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters, respectively. The Lions aggressive offense and strategic defense helped them secure the victory, 88-56.

The Lions tallied a total of 56 points in the second half alone and had a season high of 34 steals. Standout athletes were Lindsay McBean, who scored 33 points total. She was 6/11 from the 3-point arch and 12/21 overall. Cherish Francis recorded 16 points, 10 steals, and 5 rebounds, while Ashley Barret had 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals. Bobbi Green was electric, collecting 11 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals.

"It's always tough to come back after a big win like we had on Saturday against Brookdale and Passaic has a very respectable program. We scored a lot of points but didn't have our best game fundamentally. This was a solid team victory and we are looking to take this momentum into the Queensborough match on Thursday." commented Head Coach Brian Kuar post-game.

Catch the Lions on Thursday at home against NJCAA rival Queensborough at 6 PM.
