Women’s Basketball Ranks #9 in the Country

Box Score (Garden City, NY) The energy in the Nassau gym on Thursday night was overwhelming as the NCC Lions went head to head with NJCAA rival Queensborough Community College. This is the second time the Tigers and Lions are seeing each other this season. Early in the season back in 2018, NCC topped Queensborough 84-44. Queensborough is currently ranked 5th in the conference.
 
The Lions got out hard and fast jumping to the lead with a 12-3 run. NCC held the Tigers to single digits in both the 3rd and 4th quarters, helping them claim the victory, 86-33.
 
Nassau shot over 50% for the game and had a season high of 38 steals. Key players were Cherish Francis who had 18 points and 8 steals. Bri'Anna Jones recorded 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists, while Lindsay McBean tallied 11 points. 
 
With tonights win, the Women's Basketball team is now ranked 9th in the country. The Lions are 9-2 in the NJCAA conference and hold a 17-5 record overall.
 
Post-game Head Coach Brian Kuar commented, "I just couldn't be prouder of the intensity and effort that the women played with tonight. They executed the game plan perfectly and the results show that."
 
Nassau will take the weekend off to rest for the Monroe College-Bronx match up next Tuesday.
