Garden City, NY — Nassau Community College is proud to announce that Kirina Azemar, one of the most electrifying scorers in NJCAA Division III basketball, will continue her academic and athletic journey at Adelphi University, where she will join the women's basketball team competing in NCAA Division II.
Azemar capped off a remarkable season by leading all of Division III with an astounding 31.2 points per game.
A Season to Remember
Kirina delivered standout performances throughout the 2024–25 season, including:
-
52 points vs. Dutchess Community College — a career-high as well as the single game NCC scoring record.
-
41 points at Monroe University–Bronx and LaGuardia
-
39 points in three separate games, against Hostos, Suffolk, and LaGuardia, proving her consistency and elite scoring touch.
But her impact wasn't limited to the scoreboard — Kirina led with intensity, effort, and leadership in every minute she played, often logging full 40-minute games and never taking a possession off.
"Kirina's work ethic and effort is unmatched," said Assistant Coach Amanda Jimenez . "She's in the gym early, she's the last to leave, and she leads by example. Adelphi is getting a player who doesn't just want to win , she's willing to do the work every day and every game to earn it."
As she moves on to this exciting next step, Kirina shared her appreciation for those who have been a part of her journey:
"I'm beyond grateful for my time at Nassau. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, trainers, and everyone who supported me — you helped me grow on and off the court. NCC gave me the foundation to take this next step, and I'll never forget where I came from."
