(Brooklyn, NY) The Women's Tennis team traveled to Brooklyn on Tuesday to square up against Kingsborough CC. The Lions played The Wave in mid-September and came out victorious finishing 7-2. Although they were down 2 players today, Nassau was looking for a similar positive outcome.
Starting with the singles matches,
Michelle Santoli played 2nd singles and won both of her matches handily in 6-0.
Cassy Constantin focused on her match- and had an excellent game against her opponent. Unfortunately, Nassau had to forfeit the 6th singles match due to lack of players.
Moving on to doubles, the first doubles team was
Jessica Rudolph and
Michelle Santoli. The duo were able to fight for every point and tie the game 4-4, but they gave up 4 straight games after losing the match. The 2nd doubles crew consisted of
Cassy Constantin and
Nicole Russi. The two were making consistent ground stroke shots and barely missed a point. They cleaned up 8-1. Due to the lack of a 3rd doubles set, the Lions were forced to forefit, making the final score 4-5, Kingsborough.
Head Coach
Barry Kubit commented, "This was a good experience for the women. Although it wasn't exactly what we wanted, we did what we could with the individuals we had today. The team brought every ounce of effort they had to the game and we as coaches couldn't be more proud."
Nassau is now 1-2 for the season. They will be back in action next week as they take on Suffolk CC.Â
