Women's Basketball Beats Undefeated Chesapeake College in Harford Hoops Classic

(Belair, MD) The last weekend in November, Nassau Women's Basketball played in the Harford Hoops Classic. On Friday, they went against undefeated Chesapeake College in the first round of the tournament.

The Lions went out hard and fought for every loose ball. By the end of the 1st quarter, NCC was up by 3. Chesapeake poured on the pressure and out scored Nassau in the 2nd quarter. However, the Lions were still up by 1 at halftime, 36-35.

To start the 3rd quarter, Nassau went on an 8-0 run to give their lead some cushion. It was 56-50 going into the 4th quarter. The Lions continued to keep the momentum up and came out on top with the final victory, 72-65.

Outstanding player of the game was Bobbi Green, who scored a career high of 23 points and 13 rebounds. Abby Babatunde tallied 13 points and 8 rebounds. Teammate Emily Pohalski recorded 10 points and went 8-9 from the free throw line. She also had 6 rebounds to cap the night.

Head Coach Brian Kuar commented post-game, "Chesapeake is the most talented team we have seen so far this season. The women were relentless and never gave up. Chesapeake attempted to make a few runs and our defense answered all of them. We are extremely proud of our team's commitment to always put in the extra effort."

This is the 5th straight win against Division I and II teams and the Lions 8th consecutive victory.

They will go head to head with the College of Southern Maryland on Saturday in the final game of the Classic.
