(Selden, NY) On Tuesday, at the Medford Athletic Complex, the Nassau Lions laced up their cleats to take on the Suffolk Sharks.
NCC got out early in the 1st inning with the help of Mike Iacobellis, who drove in 3 runners with a home run. He also recorded a single in the first and another home run in the 2nd inning. The Lions racked up 13 runs in the 1st inning.
Nick Cavallo led off on the pitcher's mound for Nassau. He went 4 and two-thirds innings, allowing 9 runs on 8 hits and struck out 4 batters. Coming out of the bullpen for relief was Joe Wolf, who threw one and one-third innings.
The Lions lead until the 5th inning. Suffolk scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th, and Nassau only put up 1 in the top of the 6th to tie the game up going into the bottom of the 6th. The Sharks doubled on a 2-1, scoring 10 runs. Suffolk held the Lions scoreless for the next 3 innings to tie up the win, 19-16.
Overall NCC recorded 2 home runs on the day, and totaled 14 hits. Iacobellis,
Jose Deniz,
Mike Sokol,
Tucker Hahn, and
Chris Morro all posted multiple hits. Iacobellis led the Lions in 3 hits out of 5 at bats and drove in 6 total runners.

Larry Minor commented after the game, "This was a heartbreaker for us. But I know it will just ignite our motivation for the next game against the Sharks. With a few days rest, we will be ready for round 2."
Nassau will play Suffolk again on Friday at the Medford Athletic Complex before bringing the Sharks on home turf for a double header over the weekend.
