(Selden, NY) On Friday night the Men's Baseball team competed against the Suffolk Sharks on the road. This was their first game of the 2019 season against a conference team.
Suffolk scored first in the second inning off of a 0-2 count to make the score 1-0.
The game was tied 1-1 in the top of the sixth. Pitcher
Conor Jacoby stepped up to the plate and hit a homer on the first pitch, scoring 2 runs. Nassau used that momentum and nabbed the lead late in the eighth inning to go up 5-1, and clench the victory over Suffolk.
Jacoby was the winning pitcher for Nassau. He surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out seven and recording zero walks.
Zach Lelonek threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Nick Cavallo led the team with two hits in five at bats.
The Lions will play a double header on Saturday against the Sharks.
