(Selden, NY) On Saturday, the Men's Lacrosse team traveled to take on the Suffolk Sharks for their first conference game of the 2019 season. Up to this point the Sharks were sitting at a record of 4-1, while the Lions were at 6-1.
In the first half, Robbie Conners found the back of the net off of an assist from
Tyler Butrico to put the Lions up early. Both teams scored 3 points in the first period, but the Nassau denied the Sharks any goals in the second period and went up by 2. Going into half time the score was 5-3.
Liam Muldoon kicked off the second half for the Lions with an unassisted goal. This was just the spark the team needed. Nassau outscored Suffolk in both the 3rd and 4th period to sew up the victory, 12-5.
Key players of the game were
Dylan Guarneri,
Taylor Jensen,
Brian Schaefer and Aiden Conk. Each member caused 3 turnovers.
Justin Roderka led the team in goals with 5. And
John Ehlers had a great day at the X going 15 for 19 draws.
"I thought this was a well played game by both teams. It's always great to get two Long Island programs together to compete. We are looking forward to more inner conference play as we progress through the season." Head Coach
John Savage commented.
The Lions extend their winning streak to 6. They will host Mercer County CC on Sunday at home in hopes of continuing that streak.
