(Garden City, NY) On Friday night, the second game of a four part series commenced with the Lions & Tigers from Queensborough. The Lions previously beat the QCC 17-1 the day before.
Queensborough hopped to the front scoring 3 runs in the first inning. In the bottom of the first, NCC responded by tying the game at 3 when the Queensborough pitcher forced
Nick Cavallo to hit into a fielder's choice, but with a runner on 3rd, they were still able to score a run. NCC popped out to a 4 run lead in the second inning, helping them pull away from the Tigers.
Chris Morro doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring 1 run. Teammate Mike Iacobellis hit a huge homer on the first pitch of his at bat and scored 3 runs. The Lions held on to the win 8-7 to continue their streak.
Mike Iacobellis led Nassau by driving in 4 runs. He went 3-for-3 at the plate. Overall, the team tallied a total of 11 hits.
Brandon Buchan, Iacobellis, Morro, and Toscano all recorded multiple hits for the Lions. Morro, Iacobellis, and Buchan each collected three to lead the team in hits.
Pitcher Andrew Ammazzalorso took the mound for Nassau. He went five innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and struck out 3.
