(Garden City, NY) Last Saturday, the Men's Lacrosse Team competed in the Region XV Championships against Suffolk CC.
Nassau got a slow start to the game, missing a few key opportunities in the first quarter. However,
Aldrich Cheng managed to score 2 goals to give the Lions some breathing room. From the sound of the whistle initiating the second quarter, there was no looking back for Nassau. They scored 8 straight goals making the score 10-2. Suffolk managed to score 1 goal to bring the tally to 10-3 just before the half.Â
NCC opened the second half scoring 3 goals in a row. But Suffolk didn't give up that easy. They responded with 3 goals of their own to bring the score to 13-6. Nassau continued to pour on their offense and scored 5 goals in the fourth quarter. Defense held the Sharks scoreless. Nassau came out victorious with the final score 18-6. The Lions were crowned 2019 Regional XV Champions.

John Savage commented after the game, "I am really proud of our guys for getting the victory today, but we still have work to do. There are areas we need to work on to create success for our team going into the playoffs."
Aldrich Cheng was outstanding athlete of the game. He had an impressive performance scoring 5 goals on 6 attempted shots. Teammate
Liam Muldoon had 4 goals and 1 assist.
Justin Roderka tallied 3 goals.
Tom Szalkowski had 2 goals, while
Dan Rooney recorded 2 assists.
With this win, Nassau has earned an automatic bid to the NJCAA Final-Four as the #1 seed. The NJCAA National Lacrosse Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 18th in Batavia, New York. Nassau can expect to play either Howard CC or Genesee CC.Â
