(East Meadow, NY) On Thursday, the Women's Tennis Team went up against Kingsborough CC. With the sun out and 75 degree temperatures, it was the perfect day for a match.
Kingsborough was operating with a slim team of only 4 women. They defaulted in fifth and sixth singles matches to give Nassau an automatic lead.
Alexis Caruso played first singles against KCC's Leyla Mirzaalimova. The first set finished 6-2, Kingsborough. The second set was a battle back and forth, but Mirzaalimova came out victorious to clench the win.
Jessica Rudolph swept her opponent in second singles, finishing 6-0 in both sets.
Moving on to doubles, Caruso and Rudolph paired up to face Mirzaalimonva and Luminita Perde. They struggled to keep up with Kingsborough and finished 8-4.
Cassy Constantin and
Nicole Russi played second doubles and walked away with an 8-1 victory.
Overall the Lions took home their first win of the season going 7-2.
Head Coach
Barry Kubit commented, "The women played exceptionally well tonight. They hustled for every shot and made the most of every play. This is just the confidence boost we needed to lead us into success for the rest of the season."
The Lions will be back in action next week as they take on Suffolk CC.
