(Garden City, NY) On Saturday, the Nassau Football Team took to the field to compete against nationally ranked Georgia Military College.
Both teams went scoreless in the first quarter, but Georgia Military found their stride in the second quarter scoring their first touchdown on a 1 yard touchdown run. Only a minute later, the Lions' running back
Chris Collier caught a 40 yard pass from Quarterback Steve Sanchez to tie the game, 7-7.
Georgia Military continued to press and added another 7 points to the board in the 3rd quarter. They attempted to pull away in the beginning of the 4th, but the Nassau defense held them to only a field goal to make the score 17-7. Helping keep the Lions in the game, Sanchez found running back Maurice Teachey who scored off of a 14 yard run to make it a 1 possession game. With 1:38 left to play, Sanchez connected with wide receiver
Corey Spivey on an 11 yard touchdown pass to give the Lions the 21-17 lead. Nassau defense held the Bulldogs on the following possession to lock down their first victory of the 2019 season.
Quarterback Steve Sanchez completed 26-40 passes for 286 yards. He had 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Teammates

Osarogie Aibangbee had 13 tackles, a forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries. Defensive end
Luca Salerno added a sack on the final drive to really seal the win for the Lions.
Nassau Football will hit the road next Saturday to compete against Monroe College.
