Lions Baseball took on Monroe College-Bronx for a four game series. The Lions entered the series with a 6-7 record and looked to get back above a .500 record while The Express entered the series 10-13 as they also looked to get above a .500 record. The Lions managed to have a big first two game wins having won 10-3 in the first meeting and 9-7 in the second meeting. Monroe bounced back in the third game defeating the Lions in a close game with their winning runs coming in the 8th inning. The Lions however managed to take control in the fourth game by a score of 11-1 and winning the series. Some big Lions performances through the series came from
Lucas Rubenstein who had 6 RBI's,
Anthony Lamar who had 5 RBI's,
Nick Sampogna who scored 5 runs, and
Christopher McGuggart who had 5 runs. The Lions pitching was effective as well as
James Capozzi recorded the most strikeouts in the series with 7 as well
Nick Kozerski who recorded 6 strikeouts with only allowing one hit through 4.1 innings. The Lions look forward to their series with Borough of Manhattan to bolster their record and continue their great play.
