The Lions took on the Borough of Manhattan Panthers in a four game series this week. The Lions entered the series hot after winning 3 of 4 against Monroe Bronx while Manhattan looked to get in the win column as they lost their previous four games against Suffolk.
Game 1
The first game of the series saw the Lions come out hot as they managed to put up 15 runs in the first three innings while keeping Manhattan to just 3 runs. This was thanks in large part to great pitching by the Lions
Ryan Whitaker who went 5 innings only allowing 5 hits while striking out 10 of Manhattans batters. The Lions offense came from throughout the lineup as they managed to maintain hits and runners on base. Some Lions standouts on the offensive side were
Nick Sampogna who managed to tally 4 RBI's including a homerun,
Julio Lizardo who recorded a homerun of his own,
Matthew Perri joined in tallying 4 RBI's of his own,
Nick Inzerillo also managed to record 3 RBI's along with scoring 3 runs. The Lions went on to win by a final score of 23-4.
Game 2
Game 2 of the series saw a very similar start to the first game as the Lions managed to put up a 10 spot in the first three innings while keeping Manhattan off the board. The offense continued to roll as
Nick Sampogna kept his hot bat having recorded 5 RBI's, 2 stolen bases, and 4 runs on 3 hits including a homerun.
Dylan Strang recorded 4 RBI's, 2 stolen bases and 2 runs off of 2 hits.
Michael Perhauz also tallied 2 RBI's, and 2 runs off of 2 hits. The top performance of this game however goes to
Nick Kozerski who managed to pitch a perfect game. Congratulations to Nick and this incredible performance. The Lions went on to win by a final score of 16-0.
Game 3
Game 3 saw the series shift to Garden City as the Lions hosted the final two games. The Lions pitching and defense held Manhattan scoreless for the first 4 innings while the offense put up 18 in the first two innings. These runs came from the Lions bats of
Braden Clark who recorded 4 RBI's and 2 runs off of 2 hits.
Nick Sampogna who continued his hot streak with another 4 RBI's and 3 runs off of 2 hits.
Anthony Lamar also joined in having recorded 2 RBI's and 3 runs. James Cappozzi got the win for the Lions striking out 8 as the Lions went on to win by a score of 18-3.
Game 4
Game 4 saw the Lions look to sweep as Manhattan looked to steal the final game of the series. Manhattan managed to score 1 in the first inning while the Lions were left scoreless however in innings 2 through 4 it was all Lions as they managed to put up 18 in that span. First baseman
Lucas Rubenstein tallied 4 RBI's and 4 runs off of 3 hits.
Christopher McGuggart also tallied 4 RBI's with 2 runs off of 3 hits.
Julio Lizardo and
Braden Clark both hit homeruns for the Lions as well. After the first inning
Matthew Perri took control as he only allowed one hit and managed to strikeout 4 as the Lions went on to win the game by a score of 18-1 and sweep the series against Manhattan.
The Lions look to keep their hot streak going as they are in the final stretch of the regular season with their next series against Kingsborough CC.
