Men's Volleyball Opens Season with Sweep Over Old Westbury

Result

The Nassau Community College men's volleyball team opened the 2025 season with a 3-0 sweep over Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened

  • Both teams traded points to start the first set before Nassau expanded their lead with a 8-2 scoring run. The Lions took the first set 25-14.
  • Old Westbury took the momentum to start the second set with five straight points. Nassau then answered back with five consecutive points of their own. Nassau narrowly took the second set 25-18.
  • Nassau put the pressure on in the third, starting the set going up by a score of 10-2, and finishing the final set 25-17.
  • Nassau totaled 38 kills, compared to 12 by Old Westbury, with a hitting percentage of .261.

Notes

  • Christopher Thomas totaled eight kills, seven service aces, and 10 digs.
  • Thomas Wildeman led the Lions in kills with 10, along with nine digs and a service ace.
  • Setter Hunter Dunn totaled 15 assists, with three kills and three digs.
  • Collin Radin contributed eight kills.
