Nassau Student-Athletes Honored with SUNY Spring 2025 Scholar Athlete Awards
More than 25 student-athletes across the State University of New York (SUNY) system have been recognized with the prestigious SUNY Scholar Athlete of the Year Awards for the 2025 spring season, including two standout representatives from Nassau Community College. These honors are reserved for student-athletes who have not only excelled in their sports but also demonstrated academic excellence in the classroom.
The SUNY Spring Scholar Athlete Awards recognize 28 top-performing student-athletes from both two- and four-year SUNY institutions, selected through a nomination and review process by representatives of each college. Nominees are evaluated based on academic performance, including cumulative GPA, as well as athletic statistics and achievements across the season and their careers.
SUNY institutions sponsor intercollegiate athletic programs at the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division III/USCAA, and NJCAA levels, encompassing over 14,000 student-athletes at 53 different colleges and universities. The awards span 29 different sports and are presented three times annually—fall, winter, and spring—based on the sport season.

Brady Dolan – Men's Lacrosse
Brady Dolan capped off an extraordinary sophomore season by leading the entire NJCAA in total points (91) and assists (58)—in just 13 games played. As an Attack for the Lions, Dolan powered Nassau to a National Runner-Up finish at the 2025 NJCAA National Championship, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team and the All-American First Team. He also helped Nassau capture back-to-back NJCAA North Atlantic District Championships in 2024 and 2025. In his freshman season, Dolan was named to the NJCAA All-American Second Team, guiding the Lions to a Final Four appearance and a third-place national finish.

Hunter Dunn – Men's Volleyball (Men's At-Large Category)
Hunter Dunn's stellar leadership at setter played a key role in Nassau's dominant 2025 season, culminating in a Region 15 Championship, a 26-4 overall record, and a National Runner-Up finish at the NJCAA Men's Volleyball Championship. Dunn was named Region 15 Co-Setter of the Year, totaling 272 assists (8th nationally) and averaging 6.48 assists per set (10th nationally). Off the court, Dunn's academic dedication earned him NJCAA Academic All-Academic Third Team recognition in 2024 and a likely repeat in 2025, as national academic teams are set to be announced in July.
These recognitions continue Nassau Community College's tradition of athletic and academic excellence, showcasing the dedication of its student-athletes to success in every arena. Congratulations to Brady and Hunter on their well-deserved SUNY Scholar Athlete honors!
