How It Happened
Nassau threatened in the opening inning, drawing two walks and advancing a runner into scoring position, but Queensborough escaped the frame scoreless. The Lions broke through in the second inning, capitalizing on an error and timely hitting. After Zaim Deljanin reached on a single and Alex Darzano advanced on a misplay, Patrick Sebber delivered an RBI single to right field to give Nassau a 1-0 lead.
The game turned decisively in the third inning as Nassau erupted for five runs. Chris Lonergan and Aidan Quinn opened the inning with back-to-back singles, followed by a bunt single from Caiden Siegel to load the bases. Daniel Reynolds then sparked the rally with a two-run double to center, scoring Lonergan and Quinn. Later in the inning, Sebber came through again with a three-run double, clearing the bases and extending the lead to 6-0.
Nassau continued to apply pressure in the fourth inning. Siegel led off with a solo home run to center field, and the Lions added another scoring opportunity with aggressive baserunning and an error, pushing the advantage to 7-0. The Lions put the game out of reach in the fifth inning with another five-run outburst. Abel Liriano, Sebber, and Ryan Jazylo opened the frame with consecutive singles to load the bases. Lonergan drove in a run with a sacrifice fly before Aidan Quinn delivered the biggest blow of the night, a three-run home run to center field. Later in the inning, Deljanin capped the scoring with an RBI triple, giving Nassau a commanding 12-0 lead.
On the mound, Nassau was just as dominant. Michael Jazylo tossed a complete-game shutout over five innings, allowing only three hits while striking out six. He worked out of early traffic and settled in quickly, keeping Queensborough off the scoreboard throughout the game.
