Box Score (Valhalla, NY)
On Thursday, the Nassau Women's Basketball Team took on Westchester Community College. This was the first of two times this season that the Lions would go head to head with the Vikings.
Nassau's offense got out hot from the start. They managed to rack up 20 points in the first half alone. In the second quarter they held Westchester to 15, and outscored them again putting up 20. Going into halftime the score was 40-26.
The Lions continued to dominate after starting the second half. The women gelled together and scored another 20 in the third quarter. Going into the fourth quarter, NCC kept their tempo up as Westchester tried to do everything they could to hang on. The Lions came out handily victorious, 83-69.
"It was an impressive win" commented Head Coach
Brian Kuar after the game. "Our offense was undeniable, however our defensive intensity wasn't where it has been the past few weeks. We will have to keep up both ends of the spectrum if we want to be present come tournament time."
NCC had 4 players score double digits.
Nicole McCann and
Kashianna Wynter both tallied 20 points. Wynter also contributed 5 assists. Samantha Capobionco had 14 points and 11 rebounds, while
Victoria Mercado lead the team total with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Niyah Ellis finished with 10 rebounds and 7 blocks.
The Lions will be back in action on Tuesday as they take on Kingsborough on the road.
