Box Score (Brooklyn, NY) On Tuesday, NCC suited up against the Kingsborough Wave. The Lions were coming off of a hefty win against Westchester only a few days before, and they were ready to do it again on Kingsborough's turf.
Nassau started out similarly to the previous game. They went out hard and shot up 21-16 for the first quarter. Kingsborough kept it within a few points, and threatened to take over multiple times, but the Lions held their ground. Going into half time the score was 38-33.
The third quarter was a good one for NCC. They pulled away by a few more points to give them the confidence they needed to finish out the game. They went on a solid run in the fourth quarter and wrapped up the W, 75-61.
Highlights were
Nicole McCann, who lead the team with a grand total of 30 points, and shoot 8-20 from 3 point range.
Samantha Capobianco finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Kashianna Wynter had 11 points and 6 assists.
Victoria Mercado was an all around solid asset for this game. She put up 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Niyah Ellis also had 6 blocks. Overall, the women shot 45% from the field.
Assistant Coach Ashley Jackson mentioned after the game, "This was our second win against Kingsborough this season. It's exciting to watch the women as all of their hard work over the season has started to pay off for them."
