Box Score 3 Day 1 Lions Fall in First Round of Title IX Holiday Invitational
(Washington DC) The Nassau Women's Basketball team resumed their season after a small break on Thursday by competing in the Title IX Holiday Invitational Classic in Washington DC. Their first opponents were the #22 nationally ranked Harford Fighting Owls. HCC was undefeated at 12-0 this season.
In the first half, the Owls came out hard and fast. They shot 50 percent from the field and held the Lions to only 17 points. Nassau regrouped during halftime and competed hard in the second half. In the third quarter the Lions went on a 10-0 run helping them catch up. Their excellent defense limited Harford to only 34 points, but it wasn't enough to capture the win. Harford came out victorious, 85-39.

Brian Kuar commented, "Despite the score, the women competed at a higher level than they have before. I am very proud of our second half effort, as we played much better defensively. We have to learn and push on to the next."
Standout players of the game were Cherish Francis and Lindsay McBean, who finished with 16 and 14 points, respectively.
The Lions got up against CCBC Catonsville on Friday at 2:30 PM.
Day 2 Lions Knock Off Catonsville in OT
(Washington DC) In the second round of the Title IX Holiday Invitational Classic, the Nassau Lions competed against Division II program CCBC Catonsville.
After a difficult loss to Harford on Thursday, the Lions were looking for revenge. They got out quick and built up a 10-point lead to take them into the half. The score was 36-26. Catonsville fought tooth and nail to come back in the second half and pull ahead by 3 just before the end of the fourth quarter. Cherish Francis got a defensive rebound, dribbled full court, and tossed up a 3 pointer that went in to tie the game at the buzzer. In overtime, the Lions managed to pull away, capturing the win 95-90.
Francis led the team in points scored with 23 and recorded a new career high. Bri Jones had a total of 15 points, while Emily Pohalski contributed 13. Lindsay McBean and
Diana Lemus had 12 and 10 points, respectively. Lemus also tallied a career high of 15 rebounds.
"We had a solid collective effort and persistence out on the court today. We continued to compete and followed the game plan beating a Division II Junior College with talented players. We really stepped up and I am looking forward to taking on Motlow tomorrow." stated Head Coach

Day 3 Women's Basketball Loses Final Game of Title IX Holiday Invitational
(Washington DC) On the third day of the Title IX Holiday Invitational, the Nassau Women's Basketball Team competed against Division I Motlow State Community College.
The Lions were coming off of an impressive overtime win from the previous day, and were hoping to keep the momentum going. Nassau bounced to the front, holding the lead going into halftime 20-15. But Motlow wasn't not done and managed to claw their way back in the second half. The Lions saw a spark as they went on a 10-2 run in the 4th quarter, but they were unable to sustain the force. Motlow defeated the Lions, 75-60.
Cherish Francis led the team with 16 points and Bobbi Green finished with 13.

Brian Kuar commented after the game, "Motlow is a very good team and we competed with everything we had for most of the game. I'm proud of how hard we fought. If we are able to keep that effort, we should place really well in regional play come February."
The Lions are currently 9-4. Next up they will compete against rival Kingsborough Community College on Thursday, January 3rd
