Nassau Track & Field Shines at "The Big Hurt" Meet

Nassau Community College men's track & field delivered an impressive performance at The Big Hurt on Saturday, March 28th, highlighted by multiple meet records, podium finishes, and strong depth across sprint, relay, and field events. Click here for full results.


How It Happened

The Lions were led by a standout performance in the 400-meter run, where Jeremaiyh Burch captured first place with a time of 49.49, setting a new meet record. Nassau showed its depth in the event as Mark Roberts (6th, 54.57) and Cahill Louis (8th, 56.92) also placed among the top competitors. 

In the sprints, Ahmad Crosby led Nassau in the 100-meter dash, finishing 5th overall in 11.82 against a competitive field. Nassau also saw success in the 200-meter dash, where Jayden Ashley placed 8th with a time of 24.19, adding another top-eight finish for the Lions. 

The Lions continued to show strength in the middle-distance events. In the 800-meter run, Nassau was well represented, led by William Lane (6th, 2:13.34) and Anthony Sanchez (8th, 2:16.90). Additional contributions came from Khasim Plowden (2:28.08) and Durjan Garcia (2:33.78), showcasing the team's growing depth. 

Nassau dominated the relay events. The 4x400-meter relay team of Jayden Ashley, Mark Roberts, Cahill Louis, and Jeremaiyh Burch captured 1st place with a meet record time of 3:28.90, closing the meet with a statement performance. A second Nassau squad of Khasim Plowden, William Lane, Durjan Garcia, and Anthony Sanchez placed 4th (4:01.50), further emphasizing the team's depth. 

In the 4x100-meter relay, Nassau earned a 2nd-place finish (46.40) behind a strong effort from Jaidyn Lacey, Shamir Lisbon, Charles Lurch, and Ahmad Crosby, adding another podium result for the Lions.

Nassau also excelled in the field events. Paris Johnson delivered a dominant performance in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters to take 1st place and set a meet record. Meanwhile, Shamir Lisbon added a podium finish in the long jump, placing 2nd with a mark of 6.45 meters.
