Baseball Season Wrap Up

2026 Season in Review

Nassau's 2026 campaign was one of resilience and growth, as the Lions finished with a 16-11 overall record and a 15-9 mark in conference play — good enough to qualify for the Region XV Baseball Tournament. The season opened with a pair of canceled games against Rockland Community College before Nassau dropped its first two games of the year at Westchester Community College in mid-March.

The Lions found their footing quickly, reeling off seven consecutive wins beginning with a dominant 12-0 road victory at Queensborough on March 19. Nassau followed that up with back-to-back home sweeps of Queensborough and Dutchess Community College, including a lopsided 22-5 blowout and a 15-3 home win, before completing the sweep of Dutchess on the road at Renegade Stadium in Poughkeepsie. The stretch showcased the Lions' offensive firepower and signaled that Nassau was ready to compete with anyone in the region.

The middle portion of the season proved to be Nassau's most challenging stretch. The Lions dropped a tough 7-8 home decision to Ulster County Community College before rebounding with a 16-10 win over Rockland. A road doubleheader at Ulster County resulted in two narrow losses — 4-5 and 9-10 — and a 3-13 defeat at Suffolk County followed, leaving Nassau with work to do in the second half of conference play.

The Lions responded with one of their best stretches of the season, splitting a home doubleheader with Suffolk before sweeping Bronx Community College on the road — 10-7 and 7-5 — in back-to-back games on April 18. Nassau then closed out the regular season in dominant fashion, outscoring Borough of Manhattan Community College a combined 36-2 across three games and taking a key 2-1 road victory over Monroe University-Bronx on April 28 before splitting a home doubleheader with Monroe on May 1.

The Lions entered the Region XV Baseball Tournament at Suffolk County Community College with momentum, opening with a 6-3 victory over the host Sharks on May 7. However, Nassau's tournament run came to an end later that evening with an 11-6 loss to Monroe University-Bronx, and the Lions were officially eliminated the following day with a 5-8 defeat to Suffolk, finishing their postseason run just short of advancing.

Despite the tournament exit, the 2026 season represented a strong showing for the Nassau program. The Lions proved capable of competing with the best teams in Region XV, and with six players earning All-Region recognition, the future of Nassau baseball looks bright heading into the 2027 season.
