Former coach Jim Weinman paid the 6-2, 240-pound Gunter the ultimate compliment when he said “Greg was perhaps the best center in Nassau history.” Since the Lions have been playing football for 47 years, that’s quite an endorsement. Gunter was a first-team all-American in 1981, and after two years at CW Post he played for the New York Jets.
